There is No Honeymoon

Research into the Amazon Algorithm Reveals There is No “Honeymoon Period”
The guys at Seller Sessions did a deep dive into Amazon's algorithm patents to figure out how the algorithm ranks new products. They found that the X-day rank boost everyone talks about doesn't exist. Instead, Amazon uses a sophisticated AI system that makes educated guesses about your product's potential based on similar successful items.
The algorithm now updates rankings every 2 hours (not 24 hours like before), using a three-layer AI system that combines historical data with real-time customer behavior. This means your product's rank can rise or fall much faster than previously thought.
Why this matters: Your launch strategy needs to focus on quality over timing. Those first few days of traffic need to be highly targeted because poor performance, e.g. low conversions, impacts visibility faster than before. But there's good news too - products that resonate with customers can climb rankings more quickly.
Bottom line: The "honeymoon period" is a myth. Launch success on Amazon comes down to product-market fit and targeted customer engagement, not timing or artificial boosts.

Win Back Customers with QR Codes

How One Brand is Turning Amazon Buyers into Long-Term Fans
Dave Law of Zeepy shared a clever strategy for bridging the gap between Amazon's transactional focus and customer retention. Here's what his team did:
They added QR codes to their product packaging, directing customers to two resources:
The Zeepy Sleep Podcast – Calming bedtime stories for kids.
Setup Instruction Videos – Step-by-step guidance for their clock.
📊 Results After 10 Months:
39% of Amazon buyers scanned the QR code, visiting Zeepy’s site.
28% explored the instruction page, driving traffic through a simple resource.
15% listened to the podcast, building an emotional brand connection.
5% signed up for their email list, accessing a free e-book.
Why It Works:
This strategy extends the customer relationship beyond Amazon, creating opportunities for repeat sales and deeper brand engagement. By meeting customers where they are (Amazon), then inviting them to engage further, Zeepy is building loyalty and driving retention.
🔹 Actionable Insight: If you're relying on Amazon for sales, think about how you can turn one-time buyers into repeat customers. A QR code linking to valuable, engaging content is a simple but effective step.

Test Your Way to Higher Conversions

A/B Testing Update Speeds Up Listing Optimization
Amazon will soon allow multi-variate testing in Manage Your Experiments.
This feature allows sellers to test multiple content combinations—titles, main images, and more—simultaneously for a single ASIN. Instead of testing one variable at a time, Amazon’s system will analyze all permutations and identify the best-performing combination for conversion rate optimization.
Fine-tuning your product listing has always been crucial, but this tool accelerates the process significantly. Instead of spending weeks on sequential tests, you can identify the optimal listing setup in one experiment, gaining faster insights into what resonates with customers.
🔹 Actionable Insight: Prepare for this feature by auditing your current listing assets—titles, images, and descriptions. Strong creative options will yield the most meaningful results when testing begins.
